Brief: A minimalist contemporary garden design in Lancashire.

Porcelain paving wraps around the property and flows out from the interior to create a large patio space at the rear of the property with a relaxed seating area and formal dining area. A shallow reflective water feature provides a sense of tranquility. The use of a rill within a shallow panoramic garden, stretches the sense of perspective and makes the garden feel deeper by pulling the line of sight out to the distance. A bronze effect Torc pot has the appearance of levitating above the water. The sculptural quality provides drama and a focal point whilst relaxing in the garden and when viewed from the property through the bi-fold doors.

A bold and minimalist planting scheme uses swathes of ornamental grasses contrasting with clipped yew cubes and a mass of white hydrangea ‘Annabelle’ to compliment the hard landscaping. Pleached trees line the rear boundary to improve privacy.  A multi stem dwarf pine  tree sits in a raised black steel planter nestled within a block of scented lavender.  A second sculptural pine in the form of a clipped Japanese bonsai sits within the lower terrace.
