Brief: A beautiful, modern garden in Hartford designed to enhance the experience of being outdoors with family and friends. The scheme is highly functional and practical including a contemporary outbuilding, a concrete outdoor kitchen island and two patio spaces designed to provide ample space to relax and entertain at a high level of sophistication.

The timeless materiality is designed to be sympathetic to the period architecture and work in cohesion with the elegant interior decor whilst providing some subtle juxtapositions and contrasts such as a steel and timber pergola. The bespoke garden room draws on colonial architecture and echoes the existing orangery blending classic and contemporary styling to provide a stunning backdrop that contrasts with the surrounding planting.

Subtle textures provided by the clay pavers laid in a variety of laying patterns, timber slatting and high-end sculptural pots by Belgian artisans Atelier Vierkant, elevate the garden and soften the hard landscaping.

Surrounding the hardscape and a central lawn, multi-stem trees sit in deep, lush borders with (spring time) naturalistic planting. This provides a beautiful backdrop when viewed from inside the property and creates a serene atmosphere that is warm and inviting when immersed in the landscape.
