About: A contemporary garden design in South Manchester.
An autumnal, romantic oasis in tune with nature. A black steel pergola anchors the space where strong geometric lines juxtapose the wild planting. Visually light due to the narrow columns and beams, the structure supports a cantilevered timber bench using slated timbers to create a bold architectural aesthetic. At the centre of the seating area sits a corten steal fire pit set in a textured bed of gravel. A small pergola mirrors its grander cousin, framing the BBQ area below and the view out to the garden from the dining room table.
Staggered plank clay pavers laid in a modern stack bond pattern provide a low maintenance and subtle surface. Sleek hardwood decking steps provide easy access into the rear of the property and create warmth and texture. A water bowl reflects the above foliage and encourages wildlife into the garden. A timber slatted screen in black sits above the wall and provides a subtle foil for the rest of the garden whilst a bespoke timber shed and Corten wood store also doubles as a living wall on the side elevation.
The design is softened by a naturalistic planting palette, bringing texture, colour, and movement throughout the seasons. Sculptural multi stem trees provide height interest, frame views and enshroud the garden with foliage and dapped light.
