Brief: To create a contemporary Aughton garden design for the family as an extension of the home and harmonise with the properties beautifully designed interior and stunning extension designed by the architect Matt Wood.  The garden needed to be simple and sophisticated, serving both as a place for the children to feel comfortable with room to play and likewise room for the grownups to relax, dine and entertain.  Being a family for whom the outdoors is extremely important, a sheltered space was needed to allow the garden to be enjoyed in all weathers.

About: It is often said that less is more and this couldn’t be more true in this instance.  Simple forms of the hard landscaping from the level threshold deck that wraps around the property to create a seamless relationship with the interior, to the bold form of the timber pergola.  These bold, clean lines are reinforced by that beautiful pleached Fagus (Beech trees) that frame the garden and provide welcome privacy and a sense of security.

Porcelain paving from London Stone contrasts beautifully with the Garapa hardwood decking, all expertly laid by the Liverpool landscaping cult hero and YouTube start Matt Brockhurst and his Brockstone team.

The planting reflects the style of the garden, although immature at this point, a simple colour pallet and a restrictive plant list create a lush and relaxing environment, perfect for a modern family with little time to garden but an appreciation for plants and trees.
